Stephen C. Saddler, MD

Dr. Saddler is a board certified Orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty certificate in Sports Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic sutgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

His practice focuses on the treatment of complex shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle injuries. His primary clinical interests are the treatment of knee and hip soft tissue injuries using state of the art techniques for joint preservation. . He is one of the region’s leading surgeons for the treatment of articular cartilage defects of the knee. He has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area for the past 19 years. He has also been the head physician and Medical Director for the Potomac Nationals, a minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals for the past 16 years.

Dr. Saddler is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Amherst College. He received his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, and performed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery (Cornell University) in New York City. He subsequently performed a two year clinical and research fellowship in sports medicine at Cincinnati Sports medicine and Orthopedic Center in Ohio. He has served as the Chief of the Orthopedic Division of INOVA Mt. Vernon hospital, and has been the Chairman of the Surgical Case Review committee. Dr. Saddler has published articles on knee ligament biomechanics and is a Clinical Instructor at the Georgetown University Department of Orthopedics.
